This is the eleventh year that I've filled a shoe box. Operation Christmas Child is a part of Samaritan's Purse. You choose the age and gender of a child and then you fill that box with items for that child. Items can include school supplies, clothes, personal hygiene, candy and much more. It's amazing just how much you can fit in a shoe box. I have to admit I try to use the hiking shoe box size, that way the kids get more. Once your shoe box has been filled, you take it to a drop off location. It's as easy as that. This year we did two boxes, one for a girl and one for a boy (ages 10-14). The kids went shopping with me, they helped me pack the box and then went with me to deliver the boxes. They were so cute telling the boxes to go have fun with their new friends.
After all of that hard work, we all deserved hot chocolate.
