We Gave A Shoe Box

For the last 10 years I've had the priviledge to fill a shoe box or two  The brain child of Samaritan's Purse  is a program called Operation Christmas Child.  I love what they do.  It's such a simple yet effective way to give over the Christmas season.  Choose an age and gender, purchase items that will fit in a shoe box, donate a little money for shipping, drop the box or boxes off at a local church and know that by Christmas a child in a third world country will be enjoying the box you filled.  Here's a good story for you.  One of the reasons I decided to do this program was because I knew that shoe boxes would end up in Jamaica.  Three years after filling my first box, I was living in Massachusetts and I did my annual Christmas donation.   This time I put a note in the box.  Well fast forward one year, I was now living in Seattle, and a letter had tracked me down.  It was a letter from the little girl who had received my shoe box and she was from - Jamaica.  How amazing is it that my shoe box would end up in hills of my island home.  I cried like a baby the first time I read her letter.
